As we grow older, our skin changes. This is because the building blocks of healthy skin—proteins, collagen and elastin—start to break down, resulting in dullness, loss of firmness and fine lines and creases. The signs of aging, including wrinkles, larger pores and the appearance of age spots, create different skincare needs.
The Cleansing Solution: A cream or foam cleanser with polyhydroxy acids will gently exfoliate and resurface skin texture, preparing skin to maximize the benefits of treatment products.
Skin Acne-prone, oily skin has enlarged pores and tends to look shiny, greasy or oily within hours after washing it. If you have oily skin, a gel-like cleanser may be more effective for gently but thoroughly washing away that oil.
Dry, sensitive skin has barely visible pores but tends to have more visible lines and a rougher complexion.
The Cleansing Solution: If you have sensitive/dry skin, you’ll want to avoid products with heavy fragrances or high alcohol content in favor of cleansers that are gentle and moisturizing like a gel or cream cleanser with polyhydroxy acids to hydrate, soothe and smooth skin texture.
Normal and combination skin types can be dry or normal in some areas and oily in others, such as the T-zone (nose, forehead, and chin).
Whatever your skin type, it’s important to cleanse twice a day. Cleansing at night is essential to remove makeup and impurities, but cleansing in the morning is equally important to remove toxins eliminated through your pores overnight.
